The San Mateo High School Foundation held its first annual Major Donor Thank You Reception on November 4th at Borel Private Bank and Trust Company in San Mateo.  The evening provided our major donors the opportunity to get together with fellow supporters, staff, parents and alumni of SMHS.

Bill Neukom, SMHS Class of 1959, and the Managing General Partner of the San Francisco Giants, was our featured speaker.  Identifying SMHS as an “enduring institution,” he spoke about his SMHS memories and the lifelong influence of lessons learned during his high school years.  He ended with the exciting announcement of his talks with the San Mateo Union High School District and the SMHS Foundation exploring the possibility of relocating and modernizing the SMHS baseball field.  More details on this exciting news to follow shortly.

Andy Stern, SMHSF Board President, thanked everyone for their ongoing support of the Foundation.  Principal Yvonne Shiu offered her thanks to our major donors and expressed her pleasure at being able to work with such a dedicated and caring group.  Sara Catalli, a teacher at SMHS for the past 18 years, talked about what the Foundation means to the staff of SMHS. 

The energy and enthusiasm for the Foundation was in full swing on November 4th and we hope this event will become an annual tradition.  A huge thank you to Borel Bank for underwriting our reception and to Crepevine Restaurant in Burlingame for donating food for the evening.
